City of Rockville issued the following announcement on April 3.
This article has been corrected. An explanation can be found at the bottom of the article.
The State Highway Administration will close the southbound MD 355 (Rockville Pike) ramp onto eastbound MD 586/MD 28 (Veirs Mill Road) for several weeks beginning Tuesday, April 2, for a safety and resurfacing project.
Drivers seeking to turn eastbound on Veirs Mill Road (MD 586/MD 28) from southbound MD 355 should use the detour route of First Street and Veirs Mill Road. Electronic message boards will alert drivers of the work zone traffic pattern changes. Motorists should allow for extra travel time during this work. The ramp should reopen by mid-spring, progress permitting, according to an SHA advisory.
Additionally, the following lane closures will be in place during the project:
Northbound MD 355 (Rockville Pike) at Church Street will experience intermittent closures of the right lane, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays and 9 p.m. Friday-5 a.m. Monday. There will also be temporary closures of a single right-turn lane, 24/7 through mid-spring. The closures are for concrete and pavement work.
MD 355 (Rockville Pike) from MD 28 (East Jefferson Street) to Mannakee Street will experience intermittent single-lane closures 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, and intermittent double-lane closures overnight, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday-Thursday, with intermittent single- and double-lane closures weekends, 9 p.m. Friday-5 a.m. Monday, through late fall. The closures are for safety improvements and resurfacing.

A previous version of this article erroneously stated the southbound MD 355 lane closures and detour. “Rockville Reports” regrets the error.
