Representative Jamie Raskin, who has served Maryland’s 8th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017 and previously held positions in the Maryland Senate, has recently made several public statements on social media regarding ongoing political issues and personal acknowledgments. Raskin, a Harvard graduate born in Washington, D.C., currently resides in Takoma Park.
On July 14, 2025, Raskin addressed concerns about transparency from the Department of Justice under former President Trump. He stated: "We're asking the Trump DOJ to come clean with what they know about Jeffrey Epstein's abuse of children. If the files exist, get them off Attorney General Bondi's desk and into the hands of Congress and the American people."
The following day, July 15, 2025, Raskin commented on actions taken by House Republicans concerning the release of information related to Jeffrey Epstein. He wrote: "House Republicans just voted to block the release of the Epstein files. They're not acting like the 'preeminent' branch of the government seeking justice, but like a petite lapdog asking for treats at the White House."
On July 16, 2025, Raskin expressed condolences regarding Terrance's passing and his service to Representative Steny Hoyer and Maryland: "We are all deeply grateful for Terrance's years of devoted service to @RepStenyHoyer and the Free State. May his precious memory be a blessing to his family, friends and colleagues."
Jamie Raskin was born in 1962 in Washington D.C., earned both undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University by 1987, and succeeded Chris Van Hollen as representative for Maryland’s 8th District.
