Anne Arundel County Department of Health issued the following announcement on Feb. 4.
Anne Arundel County’s public health approach to gun violence prevention will focus on saving lives and preventing injuries — rather than focus on guns.
Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman told Anne Arundel County state lawmakers Friday that the Department of Health is in the process of evaluating recommendations from the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force for feasibility, cost and impact, and intends to approach the problem in an interagency fashion — similar to the way the county responded to the opioid crisis.
