Representative Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to criticize actions he attributes to right-wing figures and former President Donald Trump regarding federal workers and government operations.
On July 22, 2025, Raskin posted: "Right-wing cancel culture run wild! They’re not only canceling Colbert, global relief, the federal work force and their promise to release the Epstein File. Now they’re canceling Congress!"
The following day, on July 23, 2025, he expressed support for federal employees: "Inspired by federal workers and their families fighting the Trump-Musk madness. Solidarity is the watch word of our time as we defend against Trump’s assault on facts, science, diplomacy and the professional civil service."
Later that same day, Raskin elaborated on his engagement with public servants: "I meet frequently with federal workers—anti-human trafficking officials, food inspectors, cancer researchers, air traffic controllers—who have been sacked as part of Donald Trump’s onslaught against the government workforce. Trump's wrecking public services and public careers,"
Jamie Raskin has represented Maryland's 8th District in Congress since succeeding Chris Van Hollen in 2017. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1962 and currently residing in Takoma Park at age 60, Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
