Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 8th district since 2017, has recently shared his views on social media regarding former President Donald Trump and current political issues. Raskin, who succeeded Chris Van Hollen in Congress and previously served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016, often uses his platform to comment on matters related to constitutional law and governance.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Raskin criticized former President Trump for allegedly attempting to bring back "Con Air Force One—a likely bugged luxury jetliner from Qatar" while simultaneously accusing Trump's followers in Congress of trying to "rip Medicaid coverage from millions of Americans fighting illness." He expressed disapproval of what he described as a "flying monument to foreign" influence. The full tweet can be accessed here.

Later that day, Raskin visited the National Constitution Center and reflected on the insights of the Framers of the Constitution. He remarked that although "Donald Trump doesn’t know a lot about the Framers," they were well aware of individuals like him, which is why they included provisions such as the Foreign Emoluments Clause in the Constitution. His reflections are available here.

In another post on May 14, Raskin addressed claims by Trump's team regarding a $400 million gift dubbed "Bribe Force One" from Qatar's dictator. He argued that transparency does not legitimize such gifts by comparing it to committing bank robbery in broad daylight. He insisted that if Trump wishes to retain this gift, he must seek congressional consent. This statement can be found here.

Jamie Raskin was born in Washington D.C., in 1962 and currently resides in Takoma Park. A Harvard University alumnus with both a BA and JD from Harvard Law School, he continues to serve actively in Congress while addressing significant national issues through various platforms.
