Rep. Jamie Raskin, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, shared a series of tweets highlighting local achievements and significant legal developments. Raskin, a Harvard graduate born in Washington D.C., currently resides in Takoma Park.

On May 9, 2025, Raskin celebrated the talent displayed at MD-08’s student art competition. He congratulated all participants and specifically mentioned Katherine Xue from Richard Montgomery High School for her winning piece titled “Coming Home.” The artwork will be exhibited in the Cannon Tunnel. Later that day, Raskin commemorated the 50th anniversary of Ride On bus service in Montgomery County by honoring Wayne Harding, a long-serving MCDOT bus driver recognized as a local hero for his dedication to safe public transportation. On May 10, 2025, Raskin reported on a federal judge's decision to block the Trump/DOGE overhaul of the federal government workforce restructuring plan. He emphasized that this ruling is a constitutional victory affirming Congress's role in reorganizing government departments and agencies. Jamie Raskin has served in Congress since replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017 and previously held positions within Maryland's state legislature.
