Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district, has been vocal on several issues via his social media platform. Serving since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen, Raskin continues to address significant topics affecting both his constituents and the nation.

On May 7, 2025, Raskin highlighted the importance of Medicaid for millions of Americans in a tweet. He stated, "Medicaid is a lifeline for 80 million Americans, including more than a million right here in Maryland." He criticized the House GOP's budget proposal which includes substantial cuts to Medicaid funding.

The following day, on May 8, Raskin commented on Elon Musk's dual roles as a business leader and government employee. He expressed concerns over potential conflicts of interest by stating, "Elon Musk can promote all his business interests as a 'special government employee' and all his government decisions serve his business purposes." Raskin emphasized that this situation represents more than just a conflict of interest.

Later that day, Raskin announced new legislation he is introducing with Senator Chuck Schumer. The proposed Truth in Tariffs Act aims to ensure transparency regarding tariff costs. In his tweet, he explained, "Today I’m introducing the Truth in Tariffs Act with @SenSchumer to require the added price of tariffs to be posted by businesses." This initiative seeks to inform consumers about additional costs imposed by tariffs under current administration policies.
