U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin, representing Maryland's 8th district, has been active on social media voicing his concerns about governance and civil rights. A Harvard graduate, Raskin has served in Congress since 2017 following a career in the Maryland Senate.

On April 24, 2025, Raskin took to social media to criticize former President Trump's Justice Department. He stated that "Trump’s Justice Department ordered armed agents to intimidate a witness set to testify before our bicameral hearing. These thuggish tactics are intolerable—and we’re demanding answers."

Later that same day, Raskin addressed another issue concerning government expenditure. Addressing public concerns, he questioned whether specific funding decisions were justifiable. He posted, "Will DOGE reject funding for the Defense Secretary’s new state-of-the-art makeup studio? Or will they protect the Fox Newsification of our government while Trump ravages the great programmatic achievements of democracy, like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid?"

Also on April 24, Raskin commemorated Yom HaShoah, reaffirming his commitment to combat hate and antisemitism. He expressed this sentiment in a post stating, "On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews and millions of others killed during the Holocaust. Let the memory of those who were murdered serve as our calling to combat antisemitism and hate."

Raskin, born in 1962 in Washington, D.C., resides in Takoma Park and has an extensive political background, having served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. His educational credentials include a BA from Harvard University and a JD from Harvard Law School.
