Rep. Jamie Raskin, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently shared several statements addressing various subjects on social media. Raskin, who has a background in law, having graduated from Harvard Law School, took to the platform to express well-wishes, concerns, and reflections on leadership.

On April 20, 2025, Raskin extended his heartfelt wishes for the Easter holiday. He expressed his hopes that individuals celebrating Easter would enjoy "time with friends and loved ones on this meaningful and sacred day." His message conveyed love and peace to people partaking in the occasion.

The following day, April 21, 2025, Raskin directed attention towards developments in the digital realm. He criticized Elon Musk and his team at DOGE, emphasizing the potential loss of opportunities for young adults with disabilities. Raskin opined that actions from Musk's team were closing the door on these individuals' ability to "live with dignity and self-sufficiency." He called for a halt to this "fanatical destruction of opportunity" in his post.

Later on April 21, Raskin reflected on the leadership of Pope Francis. He praised the Pope for his commitment to global issues, noting his leadership characterized by "humility, solidarity & gentleness." Raskin highlighted the Pope's advocacy for "the global poor, human rights, climate action & peace on earth," while condemning the actions of "right-wing misanthropes," suggesting they inadvertently increased the moral influence of the late faith leader. His statement commemorated the Pope’s contributions and legacy.

Raskin, who was born in Washington, D.C., has also served in Maryland's Senate and House of Representatives. He resides in Takoma Park and continues to engage in active legislative and social discourse.
