Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress since 2017 representing Maryland's 8th district, shared his insights on local and national issues via social media. On a day of reflection and commentary, he referenced talent from his district, addressed judicial matters, and expressed concern over international cyber issues.

On April 18, 2025, Raskin highlighted a local success story by stating, "Beaming proud to say Lisa Ann Walter, comedienne and shining star of Abbott Elementary, grew up and got her acting chops right here in MoCo. This #MD08 Local Hero is a mainstay of screen and stage and an unflagging advocate for public education in America." Raskin celebrated Walter’s contributions to both entertainment and education advocacy.

Later that day, he discussed judicial responses to political actions. He tweeted, "Trump’s fascist attack on Due Process has just prompted another eloquent and blistering takedown by a Reagan-nominated pillar of the conservative judicial establishment. Thank you, Judge Wilkinson, for showing what a real judge sounds like." Here, Raskin commended Judge Wilkinson for his stance on due process, indicative of a broader judicial critique.

On the same day, concerning international cyber security issues, Raskin expressed his criticism of an unexpected source by saying, "Apparently not content to wipe out hundreds of thousands of American jobs, DOGE is now putting Russian computer hackers out of work by personally giving our data directly to the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin!" Reflecting on the impact of digital currency and cybersecurity, he voiced concerns about data vulnerability and international relations.

Jamie Raskin, born in Washington, D.C., in 1962, represents Maryland's 8th District and brings a background in law from Harvard University. His experience includes serving in the Maryland Senate and teaching constitutional law, which informs his approach to legislative and social issues.
