Representative Jamie Raskin, a Democratic member of the U.S. Congress serving Maryland's 8th District since 2017, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various political issues. Raskin, who has an extensive political background including service in the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate, discussed topics ranging from proposed reforms to social welfare programs to political leadership actions.

On April 2, 2025, Raskin criticized what he perceives to be misleading terminology used by proponents of reforming social programs with his tweet: "Thanks Senator Cassidy for reminding America: When MAGA says it will 'reform' Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, they mean they will 'cut' Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Later that same day, he addressed the actions of Speaker Johnson, who he claims has prioritized protecting certain members over facilitating participation for new parent members. Raskin's tweet stated: "Speaker Johnson would rather cancel votes for the entire week than simply to allow members who are new moms and dads to vote from home, as a bipartisan House coalition demanded. In another tweet from April 2, 2025, Raskin commented on policies related to former President Trump, referring to it as "Trump’s Liberation Day." He stated: "Liberating millions of Americans from our stock market gains & retirement savings. Liberating us from the burden of having loyal democratic allies. Liberating shoppers from affordable vegetables, cars, & medicine. Liberating us from our Constitution."
