Rep. Jamie Raskin, representing Maryland’s 8th district, recently issued a series of statements via his social media platform regarding pressing issues facing his constituents and the nation. His remarks focus on allegations of constitutional violations, the imperative role of the legal profession in upholding the rule of law, and concerns over workforce reductions in federal agencies.

On April 1, 2025, Rep. Raskin addressed a legal issue involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a tweet. He criticized ICE for what he described as an “error” in deporting an immigrant living in Maryland who has no criminal record. Raskin emphasized that this action represents "a blatant violation of Due Process and the U.S. Constitution," adding, "And he was not your only ‘error.'" "Your lawyers admitted in federal court that ICE made an “error” by deporting an immigrant who lives in Maryland with no criminal record."

In a subsequent tweet on April 1, 2025, Raskin reflected on the current political climate, highlighting the importance of the legal profession in defending constitutional principles. He remarked, "At this moment of autocrats vilifying judges and the rule of law, lawyers can prove why they're lawyers. This is the time to stand up for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and for people under attack." "This is the time to stand up for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and for people under attack."

Lastly, Raskin's concern extended to the public sector workforce, which he claims was affected before sunrise with the dismissal of thousands of federal workers within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceives as politically motivated firings, stating, "Let’s fire DOGE and get these devoted and critical public servants back on the job." "Before sunrise, Trump and DOGE fired thousands of federal workers across HHS, including many of my constituents."
