Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 8th district, has recently shared his views on several political issues through social media posts. Known for his tenure in both the Maryland Senate and House of Representatives before joining Congress in 2017, Raskin has voiced strong opinions on healthcare, food security, and government practices.
On March 23, 2025, Raskin commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act with a tweet stating "15 years ago today, Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act to make health care more affordable for millions of Americans. While Trump, Musk and MAGA wage war on Medicare & Medicaid, we’ll keep fighting for health care as a right, not a privilege."
The following day, March 24, he criticized former President Trump's policies regarding food distribution. He tweeted "Trump froze shipment of millions of dollars’ worth of food to hungry Americans, including 12 truckloads slated for Maryland. What do we tell hungry families? The president is spending billions on shocking military boondoggles but feeding the hungry is 'government waste.'"
Later that same day, Raskin addressed concerns about corporate influence within government operations by tweeting "Trump’s corporate state uses the White House lawn for a Tesla auto show, promotes Tesla stock on TV and hustles Trump deals globally. Americans can't afford groceries or medicine, but the president has turned the government into a moneymaking operation for MAGA billionaires."
