Rep. Jamie Raskin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district, has taken to social media to express his views on recent political events and support for his constituents. Known for his active engagement in political discourse, Raskin's recent tweets cover a range of topics from employment issues to international politics.
On March 5, 2025, Rep. Raskin highlighted the situation of Dr. Lauren McGee, who he claims was "illegally and arbitrarily fired by Elon Musk." He emphasized her contributions to pediatric cancer research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which he asserts are being disrupted by external chaos. "Illegally and arbitrarily fired by Elon Musk, my constituent Dr. Lauren McGee is standing strong with me for all federal employees at the Joint Address in the Capitol tonight."
In another post made later that day, Raskin commented on President Trump's speech translation into Russian and its alignment with Kremlin interests. He remarked on what he perceives as an obvious alignment between Trump's agenda and Moscow's interests: "I imagine they'll be translating President Trump's speech into Russian which shouldn't be hard because that was the language it was drafted in."
Continuing his online commentary, Rep. Raskin also addressed international concerns involving Ukraine and Russia's influence in global affairs. He noted that numerous members of the Ukraine Caucus were present to show their commitment to democracy against figures like Trump and Putin: "Dozens of Members of the @UkraineCaucus are here to stand strong for democracy, freedom and international law against Trump, Putin and Musk."
