Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district, recently shared his concerns on social media regarding various issues affecting military families and political developments. His posts reflect a critical stance on matters of censorship and governance.
On February 7, 2025, Rep. Raskin expressed his dismay over an incident involving the removal of historical figures' photos from the walls at a Department of Defense (DOD) school system located on a U.S. military base abroad. He mentioned receiving communication from constituents who are parents in the DOD school system and described their outrage over what they perceive as censorship against military families. One constituent questioned a school official about the removal of photos of Susan B. Anthony among others. "Received this memo from constituents abroad on a US military base who are parents in the DOD school system."
Later that day, Rep. Raskin commented on what he perceives as problematic forgiveness practices within the Musk administration, suggesting that racists can achieve forgiveness without repentance under current leadership. "A beautiful message on how racists can achieve forgiveness without repentance in the Musk administration!"
In another post made at the same time, Rep. Raskin criticized Elon Musk's White House advisers J.D. Vance and Donald Trump for urging Musk to rehire an individual previously involved in misconduct related to financial systems and personal data exploitation. The individual in question had resigned following disgraceful actions but was reportedly being considered for reinstatement despite past illegal activities targeting millions of Americans' financial payment systems and personal data privacy concerns."Elon Musk’s trusted White House advisers J.D. Vance and Donald Trump urged him to rehire his vicious racist protégé."
