Rep. Jamie Raskin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district, shared his perspectives on various political issues through a series of tweets on February 4 and 5, 2025. Raskin has been a congressional representative since 2017 and has previously served in the Maryland Senate.

In a tweet posted on February 4, Rep. Raskin criticized some of his Republican colleagues' views on citizenship requirements. He stated, "My GOP colleagues now say being born in the United States is not enough to establish citizenship but newborn infants must also show their 'allegiance' to the country! MAGA diapers perhaps?"

On February 5, Rep. Raskin commented on distinctions between peaceful assembly and violent actions in different regimes, referencing South Africa's apartheid era. He wrote, "I know a lot of regimes, like your native apartheid South Africa, don’t distinguish between peaceful assembly and violent insurrections, but in America we do." He added that he witnessed no crimes except for an unelected billionaire bureaucrat hindering Congressional appropriations.

Continuing his commentary on the same day, Rep. Raskin addressed claims about innocent people being imprisoned for involvement in the January 6 insurrection. He asserted, "By the way, which 'innocent people' were sent to prison for their roles in the January 6 insurrection? You should know most J6ers pled guilty for their crimes..."
