7.6% of households in Silver Spring received food stamps in 2020

Silver Spring ranked 209th in Maryland for the percentage of households receiving food stamps in 2020, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

There were 2,444 Silver Spring households (7.6 percent) who received food stamps. Silver Spring's population was 81,069 in 2020.

The city with the largest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Crellin, which had 27 of 35 households receiving food stamps, 69.5 percent more than Silver Spring. In 2020 the population of Crellin was 57.

The cities with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state were Scaggsville and Sykesville. In these cities, 0.5 percent of households received food stamps - 7.1 percent less than Silver Spring.
