CITY OF ROCKVILLE: Mayor Newton and city staff welcomed the winner of the 'If I Were Mayor' essay contest, Mithran Karthic of College Gardens Elementary School, to Rockville City Hall!

Winner

City Of Rockville issued the following announcement on Jun. 06.

Today Mayor Newton and city staff welcomed the winner of the 'If I Were Mayor' essay contest, Mithran Karthic of College Gardens Elementary School, to Rockville City Hall!

Mithran was mayor for the day, kicking off his time in the mayor's office with a tour of City Hall and his first on-camera interview. Mithran also visited the Rockville Police Department, our Fleet Management facilities, Croydon Creek Nature Center, and more!

Mithran had a police escort all day long thanks to our friend Cpl. Crowe from Rockville City Police Department. He also met with Police Chief Brito who gifted him some RCPD swag, Public Works Superintendent Steve Sokol, who presented Mithran with a street sign bearing his name. His last stop was a trip to Croydon Creek Nature Center and then he was off to lunch with Mayor Newtown.

Thank you to all of the agencies and individuals who had a hand in making Mayor Karthic's experience a memorable one.

Tune in to tonight's Mayor and Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m., where Mithran will read his winning 'If I Were Mayor' essay! Watch the meeting live at https://bit.ly/3Mtb83v
