City of Rockville issued the following announcement on Dec. 28
On Tuesday, Dec. 28, at approximately 11:45 a.m. the City of Rockville’s building inspection supervisor was notified of a water main break at 872 College Parkway.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the water main break damaged the integrity of a foundational wall of the dwelling, resulting in water damage to additional buildings.
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, and Pepco were all called to the scene.
Water and power were shut off to all affected buildings and residents were relocated for their safety. MCFRS notified the American Red Cross to help those displaced residents.
The situation is ongoing, with WSSC working to repair the water main and restore service to the buildings.
Once the water main is repaired, Rockville building inspectors will collaborate with the property owners, WSSC and Pepco to make sure that the buildings are safe for residents to return.
