Chevy Chase Village Parks and Green Spaces Committee met October 4.
Here is the agenda provided by the Committee:
1. Discussion of best ferns to plant along Saks 5th Ave. wall on Belmont Street in response to a suggestion by a villager. We will initially focus on Osmunda which is the genus of primarily temperate-zone ferns. Common examples of genus Osmunda ferns growing locally are Cinnamon Fern, Maiden Hair Fern, Interrupted Fern.
2. Follow-up on improved seating in the False Cypress Grove Green Space at the intersection of Kirke Street and Laurel Parkway.
3. Buffer Park: Center Street bench in Buffer has been installed. Does anyone want to install another bench at the entrance to the Buffer, near Park Street? After all the rains last month, the need for improved drainage became very obvious. But, Mondo Grass did well despite the flooding.
4. The Village repaired the damaged bench in the Hesketh St/Kirkside St Green Space. Many thanks for that quick response.
5. The Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of Chevy Chase is continuing with their project to label shrubs in the Village Parks
