CITY OF ROCKVILLE: Annual Report Highlights Rockville’s Fiscal Year 2018 Accomplishments

Legalcouncil

City of Rockville issued the following announcement on Sept. 5.

Learn about the City of Rockville’s accomplishments over the past fiscal year in City Manager Rob DiSpirito’s Fiscal Year 2018 annual report to the Mayor and Council and the Rockville community.

“Rockville’s greatest assets are the people who work for the city,” DiSpirito wrote in his letter introducing the report. “This report demonstrates that we’re a strong, proud community, one that is financially and economically stable, with engaged neighborhoods, and a culture that is vibrant and thriving.”

Rockville’s FY 2018 accomplishments include:

  • Being ranked the No. 1 best place to live in Maryland by “Money” magazine for the city’s low crime rate and unemployment, and highly ranked schools, shopping and amenities.
  • A perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2017 Municipal Equality Index scorecard for Rockville’s commitment to the health, welfare, safety and equality of its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.
  • Reaffirmation by ratings agencies of the city’s triple-A credit rating, which saves tax dollars by allowing Rockville to borrow at the lowest possible interest rates, and is an indication of the city’s sound financial health and financial management practices.
  • Collected 4,720 tons of recyclables through the city’s single-stream recycling program.
The report is presented as a four-page insert in the September issue of “Rockville Reports,” which is mailed to all homes within the city limits. A PDF image of the print edition is available by visiting RockvilleReports.com, then selecting “Annual Report 2018” in the right-hand column.
