CITY OF GAITHERSBURG: Opportunity Grants Available to Nonprofit Organizations Serving Gaithersburg Residents

Budget 13

City of Gaithersburg issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.

In the FY2019 City of Gaithersburg operating budget, the Mayor and City Council approved $10,000 in funding for a Nonprofit Opportunity Grant program that addresses community and human service needs in the City of Gaithersburg.

Funding for one or more grants is available to assist with gaps in services and to help organizations meet unexpected challenges in the priority service areas of Food and Nutrition, Housing Preservation and Transportation Assistance, Health and Mental Health, and Vocational and Financial Empowerment Services. Applications that address the needs of Gaithersburg residents who are Victims of Domestic Violence, Homeless Youth, Immigrants, and/or Disabled or Older Adults are also encouraged.

Nonprofit Opportunity Grants will be awarded to nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies that serve City of Gaithersburg residents. Funding is limited to organizations that are not currently under contract with the City of Gaithersburg. Applications will be considered as received (pending availability) through December 14, 2018. Awardees must expend these grant funds by June 30, 2019.

The Gaithersburg Community Services Division reviews applications for technical compliance, after which they are submitted to the City’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for evaluation. Projects recommended by the CAC for funding are brought before the Mayor and City Council for approval.

Required forms and instructions are available online here. Applications will only be accepted via the City of Gaithersburg Grant Portal, which is linked from that location. For more information please contact Community Services.
