Chevy Chase Village Environment and Energy Committee met June 5.

Here is the agenda provided by the Committee:

• Update on appeal of Montgomery County Lawn Care Bill 54-14 as it applies to private property and options for the Village (Marilyn)

• Recycling issues—contamination of recyclable materials resulting in rejection of truckloads of otherwise eligible materials destined for recycling (Ellen and Marea)

• Plastic waste and the glut of single-use plastics ending up in our stream beds and ocean, (Marea)

• Food composting: status in the County and the Village (Ollie?). Can we advocate for a local food composting facility for the greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase area?

• Solar and renewables

• Speaker series:

• Organic Lawn care (Jay Feldman, Beyond Pesticides)

• Reducing Plastic Waste (Plastic Pollution Coalition)

• Reducing run-off and contamination of our streams and rivers (The Chesapeake Bay Foundation)
