City of Rockville Asian Pacific American Task Force met April 3.
Here is the minutes provided by the Task Force:
I. Convene
Meeting Convened at 7:30 p.m.
II. Introduction of Guests
Staff introduced guests from the Jiaxing Committee
III. Support for Projects and Programs
A. Guests from the Sister City Corporation
Jiaxiing Committee came to discuss the possibility of the APA Task Force sponsoring the Dragon Boat Race in Washington, D.C. in May). The Task Force will get the opinion of those who were unable to attend before making a decision.
B. Debrief of the Asian Business Network
Members that attended the network felt that the session went well. Connections were made and there was discussion on how to make the event even bigger.
C. Update of Asian American Heritage Month Activity
The details are set for the upcoming presentation at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre by forensic scientist, Dr. Henry Lee. There will be a walkthrough scheduled with the tech director in the upcoming week. Volunteers are being gathered to assist with greeting and publicizing the event.
D. Hometown Holidays Volunteers
A list of who will do what was determined and staff will confirm in May the final list of volunteers for Hometown Holidays.
E. Voter Education
Task Force will be assisting with the effort by translating any material that is in English to Asian languages (primarily Chinese) They will also go to places where people gather the most to talk about the significance of voting and talk up early voting.
