Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative activities in the House of Representatives. Known for his tenure in the Maryland Senate and his educational background from Harvard University, Raskin has taken to Twitter to express his opposition to proposed bills and political actions.
On July 3, 2025, Raskin tweeted about what he referred to as "MAGA’s job-killing, debt-explosion bill" currently being debated on the House floor. He emphasized that Democrats are striving to prevent the GOP from implementing measures that would result in "throwing 17 million Americans off their health coverage and SNAP." "We’re fighting to stop the GOP from throwing 17 million Americans off their health coverage and SNAP," he stated.
Later that day, Raskin addressed President Biden directly in another tweet. Criticizing the President's approach as akin to a "schoolyard bully," he accused him of supporting legislation that would metaphorically "steal lunch money from millions of kids." "Mr. President, you love playing the schoolyard bully but... your bill STEALS LUNCH MONEY FROM MILLIONS OF KIDS."
In another post on July 3, Raskin commended Leader Jeffries for his prolonged speech against the GOP's tax plan. Jeffries had been speaking for over seven hours on the House floor in opposition to what he termed a detrimental tax scheme by Republicans. Raskin expressed solidarity with Jeffries' efforts by stating: "He’s holding the floor for the American people, and we stand with him."
Raskin continues to be an active voice in Congress and beyond, utilizing platforms like Twitter to communicate his stance on pressing issues.
