Rep. Jamie Raskin, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 8th district, has recently taken to social media to express his views on various political matters. Raskin, who succeeded Chris Van Hollen in 2017, shared his opinions through a series of tweets.
On July 3, 2025, Rep. Raskin posted a tweet using acronyms to criticize former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. He wrote "TACO = Trump Always Chickens Out RAGU = Republicans Always Give Up".
Later that day, at 13:03 UTC, he addressed the GOP’s tax proposal and its impact on healthcare coverage. He tweeted "The GOP’s tax scheme strips health care coverage from millions of Americans, including at least 245,000 Marylanders. I’m voting ‘hell no.’"
In another tweet posted on July 3 at 13:55 UTC, Rep. Raskin elaborated on the broader implications of the proposed tax changes concerning healthcare access for Americans facing serious illnesses. He stated "Millions of Americans know the pain and hardship of getting a cancer diagnosis. That’s a misfortune, a terrible misfortune. Voting for a tax scheme designed to rip health care from millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet? That’s not a misfortune, that’s an injustice."
Jamie Raskin was born in Washington D.C., in 1962 and currently resides in Takoma Park. A Harvard University alumnus with both undergraduate and law degrees from the institution, he served in the Maryland Senate before his tenure in Congress.
