Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district, expressed his views on various political and social issues through a series of tweets on January 24, 2025. His posts covered topics including legal challenges to executive orders, the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol events, and refugee support initiatives.

In a tweet from January 24, Rep. Raskin expressed gratitude for the leadership of Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown and other state attorneys general who are challenging what he referred to as President Trump's "unconstitutional birthright citizenship executive order." He thanked state and local leaders for their commitment to upholding the Fourteenth Amendment. "Grateful for the leadership of @OAGMaryland Anthony Brown who joined 22 other state attorneys general in challenging President Trump's unconstitutional birthright citizenship executive order."

Later that day, Raskin commented on actions taken by the GOP regarding an investigation into the events of January 6 at the U.S. Capitol. He critiqued this move following mass pardons granted by Republicans and questioned what additional insights could be provided beyond those in an existing bipartisan report. He suggested that Donald Trump should testify as part of this new investigation. "Fresh from the mass pardons of cop-beating criminals, the GOP announces a new “investigation” of Jan. 6."

In another tweet from later that evening, Raskin highlighted HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), a Jewish charity with historical roots in aiding Jewish refugees and currently supporting others fleeing violence globally. He praised Mark Hetfield and his team at HIAS for their work in remembering that all families were once strangers seeking refuge."HIAS began when Jews coming to America were refugees from pogroms."
