Rep. Jamie Raskin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district, has shared several insights and announcements through his recent tweets. These messages cover topics from the responsibilities of elected officials to the principles of due process in America, as well as a recognition of local student achievements.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Raskin emphasized the duty of elected officials to serve all constituents irrespective of party affiliation. He stated: "Elected officials may enter office with an R, D or I next to our names, but once we swear an oath, we serve everyone, regardless of party, and we protect the rights of all under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights." He added that political parties are merely a "part" and reiterated their commitment to serving all people.

In another tweet on December 13, 2024, Rep. Raskin addressed concerns about due process in America. He asserted: "In America, you can't be sent to jail just because a president wants you behind bars. People go to jail only for committing crimes—if they’ve been convicted in court by a unanimous jury." He underscored that replacing due process with political persecution is unacceptable.

On the same day, Rep. Raskin announced winners of his district's Congressional App Challenge: "I’m pleased to announce that Ayden Yeung of Wheaton High School and Julian Givens of Montgomery Blair High School have taken the top prize in my #MD08 2024 Congressional App Challenge with their app, ‘Better Buildings!’"
