TOWN OF GARRETT PARK: MAYOR UPDATE: Federal Highway Administration Response on SRTS Section 106 Review

Town hall

Town of Garrett Park issued the following announcement on Dec. 19.

Dear Residents,

This is to let you know that we received the final response from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding the Section 106 process as it pertains to our Safe Routes to School (SRTS) sidewalk project. FHWA upholds their previous determination of no adverse impact. They also state that the Town's consulting process was conducted properly. Please see (click on link) attached letter from FHWA to Town of Garrett Park, Dec. 17, 2018.

I recognize that many of you will be relieved to hear this; some of you maybe not so; and even a few of you may well be indifferent. However, I hope that we can all accept FHWA's decision so that we all, as a community, can move forward together in unity and good will towards one another.

So what happens now?

1) Finalize bid package and funding arrangements with State Highway.

2) Receive federal authorization to proceed (FAP) with bid solicitation.

3) Establish the following tentative dates: Advertise bids Jan 31st; hold pre-bid meeting Feb 12th ; bids due on Feb 28th.

Wishing you all happy holidays and a great new year!

Kacky

Mayor, Town of Garrett Park, MD
