City of Gaithersburg Environmental Affairs Committee met Sept. 11.

1. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Session of the Environmental Affairs Committee was called to order at 7:03 PM with Chair Doug Wolf presiding.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A. Regular Session held July 10, 2018

Motion was made to approve the above minutes.

3. DISCUSSION TOPICS

A. City Staff Update

Andrew Benjamin is new acting Staff Liaison.

B. City Council Update

Some discussion about concerns about the destination of recycling with potentially disruptions in the future.

C. Committee Updates

Annual presentation and accompanying deadlines were discussed. Upcoming events were listed, including Poolesville day, the shredding event, Greenfest 2019, the Volksmarch, and the next Environmental Affairs Committee (EAC) meeting that will be a joint meeting between the EAC and the Transportation Committee.

D. WSSC guest speaker

Speakers answered questions from the EAC regarding water monitoring procedures, notification processes, and public outreach measures. The new point of contact, Jason Brown, for Gaithersburg was introduced.

There being no further business, the session was adjourned at 9:09 PM
