Senior Advisory Committee met Sept. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Session of the Senior Advisory Committee was called to order at 11:00 AM with Chair Carolyn Bass presiding.

2. ELECTION OF OFFICER

A. Election of Chair

Motion was made to elect Carolyn Bass to serve as chair.

B. Election of Vice Chair

Motion was made to elect Marlene Shemelynec to serve as Vice Chair.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A. Regular Session held June 4, 2018

Motion was made to approve the above minutes.

4. DISCUSSION TOPICS

A. Discuss Calendar for 2018

The current schedule for 2018 was discussed and Committee decided to keep the meetings first Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m., but meet ten months instead of six, from January - June and September - December.

B. Follow-up on Brainstorming list from June 4, 2018 meeting

Committee was asked to read the list and be ready to address any concerns at the next meeting.

C. Review and discuss Mission Statement and Committee Policies and Procedures

Monroe, Shemelynec and Bass researched and worked on the draft Mission Statement and Committee Policies and Procedures which is in compliance with City rules. Both documents were distributed and discussed in detail. Committee unanimously agreed with the changes to both the Mission Statement and Policies and Procedures.

D. Community Facility Manager's Report

Membership is up 657 this Summer with City residents at 58%. Average daily attendance is 132. Fitness membership is 131 with average daily attendance at 27 for year 2017/2018.

New bus was delivered in July. A new mini bus will be delivered next summer.

Podiatrist service has been added to list of service providers at the Center and is available on Monday’s by appointment.

We will have a booth at the Oktoberfest on October 14th at Kentlands Village Green. Committee is welcome to volunteer or stop by.

A survey will be mailed out to all members in October.

Ed Hsu has resigned from the Committee due to family obligations.

E. For the Good of the Order

Committee suggested incorporating Bohrer Park fitness hours in the Monthly News.

Committee agreed to promote participation in the survey amongst membership.

Committee requested a specific registration date be set up for online and in person to make it fair to all members.

Committee also suggested posting class schedules on the door to prevent members wandering in.

5. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the session was adjourned at 2:00 PM
