Town of Garrett Park issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.
Every property in Garrett Park has a portion that belongs to the town rather than to the individual property owner. This is known as the “right of way.”
There are right of way survey maps posted on our website (under Government, then subheading Records and Documents) that show the right of way for all properties in town.
On the Town right of way portion of each property, the maps show trees which belong to the Town.
These trees may be approved for removal only by the town office in consultation with our Arboretum Committee.
If you have a tree you think needs pruning or removal and it is on town property, or if you have a question about this process or about a tree whose location you are unsure of, please consult the right of way street survey map that includes your home, and notify the town office: 301-933-7488.
