Town of Garrett Park issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
A Montgomery County street repair crew came this morning, August 14th, to start work on a short-term fix to the drainage problem under the walkway.
The crew will make basic repairs to the pipe under the walk, clear and put rip-rap (loose stone used to form a foundation) at each end of the pipe, refill around the pipe and repave the walkway.
Once complete, the walkway will be open for foot and bike traffic.
The work will likely take the rest of this week so we are hoping that the walkway will be ready for use by this coming weekend, Saturday August 18th.
This fix does not address the larger drainage and storm water problems around the area. However, it should hold up for several months which gives us time to plan and design the long-term solution and to work with the County on how to finance the solution.
Thank you for your patience.
