Rep. Jamie Raskin, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently shared his views on various political issues via social media. Born in Washington, D.C., Raskin is known for his active engagement in national discourse.

On June 9, 2025, Rep. Raskin responded to JD Vance's remarks about former President Donald Trump not tolerating "rioting and violence." He expressed skepticism about these claims by recalling the events of January 6, 2021. "JD Vance says Trump won’t 'tolerate rioting and violence.' Really, since when? He incited riots and violence on Jan. 6, 2021 and watched as MAGA attacked our police, rejecting all calls for the National Guard. We don’t need MAGA violence—for insurrection or repression."

Later that day, he addressed an international issue involving human rights in El Salvador. "Authoritarians love corruption and fear accountability. The arrest of long-time human rights defender Ruth López is another chilling attack on democracy by Bukele’s regime. Free Ruth NOW." This statement was a critique of President Nayib Bukele's administration.

On June 10, Raskin commented on domestic issues regarding minority groups in America. "Americans know scapegoating when we see it. Authoritarians target, vilify and demonize small minority groups to whip up negative emotions and mask their own programs." He urged the public to reject efforts aimed at stigmatizing transgender Americans.

Jamie Raskin holds degrees from Harvard University where he completed his undergraduate studies in 1983 and earned a JD from Harvard Law School in 1987.
