Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently shared several updates on his official Twitter account. His posts cover a range of topics from legislative actions to recognition of young achievers.

On May 16, 2025, Raskin addressed National Police Week in a tweet directed at Speaker Johnson. He urged the Speaker to "do the right thing during National Police Week and follow the law by finally displaying in the Capitol (two years late) a plaque Congress chose to honor the brave men and women who defended the Capitol, the Congress, the Vice-President and our" link.

Later that day, he expressed his pride in recognizing high school students from Maryland's 8th District who received appointment offers to U.S. Service Academies. Raskin tweeted: "Honored to celebrate 19 stellar high school students from #MD08 for receiving appointment offers to U.S. Service Academies. It was a privilege to nominate them & I know they will apply their skills & knowledge to defend our democracy against all enemies, foreign & domestic." link

In another tweet posted on May 16, Raskin announced his introduction of bipartisan legislation aimed at providing tax relief for victims of scams and natural disasters: "I’m introducing commonsense, bipartisan legislation to provide tax relief for victims of scams and natural disasters. No one should face immense personal loss only to be revictimized with a colossal tax bill." link

Jamie Raskin has been an active political figure since replacing Chris Van Hollen in Congress in 2017. Prior to his current role, he served in both chambers of Maryland's state legislature from 2007 until his election to Congress.
