Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 8th district since 2017, has taken to social media to express his views on several pressing issues. His recent tweets address topics ranging from constitutional law to economic policy.

On May 15, 2025, Raskin tweeted about the importance of the Supreme Court in defending birthright citizenship. He stated, "America looks to the Supreme Court to defend birthright citizenship. President Trump cannot overthrow the 14th Amendment with an executive order. In America, we have a supreme Constitution, not a supreme leader."

In another tweet on the same day, Raskin discussed economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by former President Trump. He noted that Walmart had joined other retailers in raising prices due to these tariffs. He highlighted his legislative efforts by stating, "Today, Walmart joins all the retailers forced to raise their prices because of the Trump Tariffs. The Truth in Tariffs Act, my bill with @SenSchumer, will show families just how much the Trump Tariff is costing us. Let's make Trump's national sales tax transparent."

Later that day, Raskin reiterated his stance on constitutional supremacy over executive power by tweeting, "We have a Supreme Court and a supreme Constitution but not a supreme leader. Trump has no right to disregard the law."

Jamie Raskin was born in Washington D.C., in 1962 and currently resides in Takoma Park. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 1983 and earned a JD from Harvard Law School in 1987.
