GAITHERSBURG, Md. In celebration of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the City of Gaithersburg presents the 23rd annual member exhibit featuring artwork by the Harmonious Art Group, on display through July 9, 2023, at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park. Viewing hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free reception to meet the artists takes place on Saturday, June 10, at 1 p.m. The public is invited to view the artwork in person and learn more about this special genre of art.

This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Harmonious Art Group, whose work features both traditional and contemporary Asian styles. The group was founded by Bertrand Mao, master of Chinese Shan-Shui (Mountain-Water) and calligraphy, and John Wang, master of Chinese calligraphy and seal cutting, to share the beauty of this ancient art form with the community. Over the years members have incorporated new techniques and styles demonstrating the diversity of Chinese art.

There are 36 pieces in the exhibit and the artists include founders Bertrand Mao and John Wang, with members Jessica Chen, Meilih Chen, Hui Han, BinJi Huang, Joanne Lin, Natacha Lo, LiWen Quach, Carole Yee, and Erica Yu.

Please note that most of the included artwork is for sale and all images are copyrighted by the artists. For more information or to make an appointment to visit, please contact 301-258-6394, e-mail artgalleries@gaithersburgmd.gov, or visit the Activity Center at Bohrer Park gallery webpage.
