City of Gaithersburg Senior Advisory Committee met Dec. 3.

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Session of the Senior Advisory Committee was called to order at 1:00 PM with Chair Carolyn Bass presiding.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Regular Session held November 5, 2018
Motion was made to approve the above minutes.

3. DISCUSSION TOPICS
A. Community Facility Manager's Report
Smith discussed membership and attendance data. Nov. 13th was the highest recorded attendance at 176.
Active Aging Expo sponsorship packages are ready and will be sent out in January. Information is posted on the website. Asbury Methodist Village is the top sponsor and hoping they will be this year too. We would like to secure 2 or 3 lunch sponsors this year.
December 24 to 31 the building will close at 4 p.m.
B. Mayor and City Council Presentation Report
Chair, Bass announced the presentation went very well, Mayor and City Council was very receptive. Committee thanked Bass for a well done presentation. Mayor and City Council suggested we revisit the subsidy question with Montgomery County.
C. Discuss brainstorming list with focus on Active Aging Expo
Committee was asked to help promote the Expo at businesses and within their communities with flyers and business cards. Help secure sponsors and speakers for the event. Program Coordinator Charlyn Simpson will attend the next meeting to discuss the Expo in detail.
D. For the Good of the Order
Committee enquired about the welcome signs in different languages - Smith responded we are working on the signs and checking with Sign companies.
Committee also requested silk flowers for the dining tables, a list of duties that volunteers can help with and post health tips in the Monthly News.
