Town of Kensington issued the following announcement on Nov. 6.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2018, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 AM AND 12:00 PM, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Kensington will conduct an annexation referendum election. Adopted ANNEXATION RESOLUTION AR-01-2018 enlarges the boundaries of the Town of Kensington by annexing approximately 12.585 acres of land bounded by St. Paul Street, University Boulevard and Perry Avenue. The election will submit ANNEXATION RESOLUTION AR-01-2018 to referendum by the registered voters who reside in this annexation area. The election will be held in the right-of-way near the intersection of Madison Street and St. Paul Street, in front of 10728 St. Paul Street, Kensington, MD 20895. Annexation area residents who are registered to vote in Montgomery County elections as of October 25, 2018 are entitled to vote in this referendum election.
Each registered voter may vote FOR or AGAINST the Annexation Resolution. If a majority of the voters vote for the Resolution, it will take effect on the fourteenth day after the referendum. If a majority of the voters vote against the Annexation Resolution, it will be void.
Absentee ballots will be available at the Kensington municipal building, 3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington, MD 20895, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning on November 16, 2018.
Copies of Resolution AR-01-2018 and all attachments thereto, including a full and complete metes and bounds description of the land to be annexed, and the Annexation Plan, may be reviewed or obtained in the Town Clerk-Treasurer’s office at the Kensington municipal building located at 3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington, MD 20895 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or by mail at the above address, Attention: Susan Engels, Clerk-Treasurer.
