City of Rockville issued the following announcement on Oct. 11.
The city’s Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for two awards and is seeking performers and volunteers for Rockville’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday, Jan. 21.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Award will be presented during the celebration to a student at a Rockville high school who has worked to fulfill King’s dream. The F. Michael Taff Award will be presented to an individual, organization or business that has helped to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Find and submit nomination forms at www.rockvillemd.gov/mlk. The submission deadline is Monday, Nov. 12.
Individuals or groups interested in performing as part of the program should email jkelly@rockvillemd.gov with links to online digital media demonstrating their talents by Friday, Oct. 26.
Volunteers are wanted to help with setup and cleanup on the day of the event. Student Service Learning credit is available.
