A. Presentation: Maryland Route 355 Bus Rapid Transit (Katie List, Sr. Transportation Planner, Foursquare ITP)
Corey Pitts, BRT Project Manager for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation provided an update on the proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project for the MD Rt. 355 Corridor. From 2015 to 2017, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) conducted a study (“Phase 1”) to identify options for the MD 355 BRT. MCDOT is now leading "Phase 2" of the study, which involves further evaluation of the Conceptual Alternatives from Phase 1 to identify one recommended alternative for the BRT. Frequency, lane dedication, vehicle enhancements, transit signal priority, station design, prepayment kiosks, real-time information displays, and commuter-friendly design are among the features of the BRT. The County has added an economic development consulting firm to the study team to identify which alternative will generate more investment in the corridor.
4. Adjournment
There being no further business, the session was adjourned at 9:30 am
