City of Gaithersburg issued the following announcement on Nov. 30.
The Gaithersburg Police Department & the Gaithersburg Police Foundation, in partnership with Lakeforest Mall, will be sponsoring the 5th Annual “Shop with a Cop” program on Thursday, December 13, 2018.
Twenty police officers representing the Gaithersburg Police Department, Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Maryland National Capital Park Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, National Institute of Health, Rockville City Police, and other allied agencies will be each paired with a child for a holiday shopping excursion at Lakeforest Mall. The children have been selected from referrals to the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Holiday Giving programs. After shopping, the children, police officers and parents will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa and dine together. During dinner, Explorers from the Montgomery County Police Explorers Post 1986 will be wrapping gifts.
Gift cards, dinner & pictures with Santa were graciously donated by Lakeforest Mall and the Gaithersburg Police Foundation.
