City of Gaithersburg issued the following announcement on July 2.

Montgomery Magazine announced on Friday, June 22, 2018, that the Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Road, was voted by readers as one of the best community theaters in the county. The upcoming July/August publication of the magazine commends the Arts Barn on this accolade.

Each season, Arts on the Green solicits production proposals for the Theater Series at the Arts Barn, and accepted productions become part of the Theater Arts Partnership Program (TAPP). A production partnership is created between the production company and the Arts Barn/City of Gaithersburg.

The unique program provides TAPP partners affordable, quality production space while helping the City fulfill its commitment to a robust arts and cultural environment for its residents.

Upcoming TAPP productions include Heard it Through the Grapevine - A Tribute to Motown in partnership with The Finest! Performance Foundation, Inc. and Little Women (The Musical) in partnership with Wildwood Summer Theatre.

In May 2002, the Arts Barn opened to the public with its first stage performance, a one-woman comedy titled, “A Fresh of Breath Air,” written by and starring Dale Stein. Since then, more than 180 theater productions ranging from comedies to dramas to musicals have graced the Arts Barn stage.

The Arts on the Green Theater series is funded in part by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). To discover more about MSAC grants and how they impact Maryland's arts sector, visit www.msac.org.

Arts on the Green is Gaithersburg’s home for the performing and visual arts. Patrons enjoy concerts, magic shows, and professional and community theater in the Arts Barn’s 99-seat theater while music-lovers delight in unique chamber performances held in the elegant Kentlands Mansion. The Green provides a park-like setting for outdoor events and festivals.
