CITY OF GAITHERSBURG: Explore “Inquiring Minds” Activities at Community Museum

City of Gaithersburg issued the following announcement on June 12.

The Gaithersburg Community Museum invites young visitors to explore hands-on activities and experiments with its “Inquiring Minds” series. It takes place Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon July 11 through August 15. The series is suitable for ages five and older. Supplies are limited. Admission is free; donations to cover program costs are appreciated.

This summer’s activities include:

July 11 – Vacation Journals

Make a journal to preserve your vacation memories. Record thoughts and events, draw pictures and tuck things into a back pocket.

July 18 – Animal Day

Celebrate Animal Day with the Animal Welfare League and make toys for animals in local shelters. Meet the Gaithersburg Police K-9 Unit at 10:45 and visit with Frodo the therapy dog from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

July 25 – Origami

Learn how to fold paper into fun forms.

August 1 – Music

Enjoy a morning of music and musical instruments with musicians from Victor Litz. Make one to take home.

August 8 – Playing with String

Learn the basics of knitting and crocheting, play string games and make string art.

August 15 – Fun with Science

Explore all things science with creative hands-on activities.

The Gaithersburg Community Museum is located at 9 South Summit Avenue. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with additional hours by appointment. Museum admission is free. The Museum is adjacent to the new Olde Towne Plaza. Toys and games are available in the Museum for use in the Plaza during regular business hours.
