In a tweet from April 16, 2025, Raskin criticized the former President Donald Trump for attempting to dismiss two independent Federal Trade Commission commissioners. He described this move as “an attack on the agency’s essential work fighting consumer fraud, online scams & business monopoly,” emphasizing the collective opposition from more than 200 Congressional Democrats. He affirmed, “The President has no right to destroy the FTC.”
On April 17, 2025, Raskin addressed the significance of Medicaid, noting its impact on millions, including numerous residents of Maryland’s 8th district. He stated that Medicaid provides vital access to healthcare and supports employment and independent living. “Democrats refuse to let a single MAGA attack on Medicaid go unanswered. We will defend all the,” he declared.
In another tweet on the same day, Raskin reflected on the broader implications of the rights of non-citizens, asserting “If the rights of non-citizens are not secure, then the rights of citizens are not secure.”
Raskin, who was born in Washington, D.C., in 1962 and graduated from Harvard University, lives in Takoma Park. He has been an active political figure since his tenure in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016 and a consistent advocate for various policy issues.
