Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 8th District, recently shared his perspective on judicial and economic issues through a series of tweets. An outspoken advocate for due process and the economy, Raskin has been forthright in expressing his opinions on significant contemporary issues.

On April 19, 2025, Raskin stated, “We’re winning in Court every day because the Constitution is on the side of Due Process. Of course Thomas and Alito continue to act like mob judges, so keep fighting for the Constitution everyone.” This statement highlights his ongoing concerns regarding the interpretation of due process by specific members of the judiciary.

Later the same day, he turned his attention to economic matters by expressing concern over the current administration’s handling of the economy. He remarked, “Trump’s ruinous economic plans are squandering all the strength of the Biden economy, which was ‘the envy of the world’ (the Economist). Not only are grocery prices soaring but the American manufacturing sector is contracting dramatically.” Here, Raskin criticizes what he perceives as detrimental economic policies that harm American industry and inflate everyday expenses.

On April 20, 2025, Raskin reiterated the importance of preserving both free speech and due process. He stated, “The price of exercising your right to free speech cannot be your right to Due Process. In America we have both. Even when Donald Trump lambasted judges and their family members, he was never denied his Due Process rights.” This remark underscores the balance he sees as essential between civil liberties and judicial fairness.

Jamie Raskin, serving in the U.S. Congress since 2017, has maintained a commitment to civil rights and economic issues, with his career also including service in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Raskin, a Harvard Law graduate, was born in 1962 in Washington, D.C., and currently resides in Takoma Park.
