Rep. Jamie Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets addressing federal law enforcement actions, community recognition, and potential impeachment proceedings.

On January 25, 2026, Raskin commented on a fatal incident involving federal agents in Minneapolis. He stated: “Today, out-of-control masked federal agents killed another American, Alex Pretti, a VA ICU nurse. Trump needs to end this chaos and withdraw his ICE battalions from Minneapolis. The Senate must vote down funding this slaughter of our people.”

Two days later, on January 27, he recognized Muslim American Heritage Month with the following message: “This Muslim American Heritage Month, we recognize the many contributions this diverse community has made in MoCo, Maryland and across America. Together, we commit to opposing Islamophobia and all forms of hate that divide us.”

Later that same day, Raskin addressed Secretary Kristi Noem’s position at Homeland Security and called for possible impeachment action: “Unless Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is fired, Chairman Jim Jordan should immediately begin Judiciary Committee impeachment proceedings against her. And if he doesn’t, Democrats will launch our own impeachment inquiry into the shocking constitutional crimes and”

Jamie Raskin has served as the representative for Maryland’s 8th District since 2017 after succeeding Chris Van Hollen. Before his tenure in Congress, Raskin served in the Maryland Senate from 2007 to 2016. Born in Washington D.C., he resides in Takoma Park and holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
