Rep. Jamie Raskin, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, recently shared updates on local achievements and national issues through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On May 28, 2026, Raskin highlighted the work of student artists from his district: “It’s an extraordinary pleasure to share with you our 2026 Congressional Art Competition Virtual Art Gallery. Check out the creative and awe-inspiring pieces made by MD-08 high school student artists. https://t.co/UrxRVJNfU3”

The following day, May 29, he criticized a financial move by former President Trump, stating, “President Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion slush fund is unconstitutional, illegal and a fraud on the court—and the country. Everyone—Democrats, Republicans, Independents—must reject this total usurpation of the other branches and flat-out violation of our nation’s laws. https://t.co/0WFgUshsjd”

Later that same day, Raskin recognized Sarah Fradkin for her contributions to public libraries in Montgomery County: “In honor of the 75th anniversary of MoCo Public Libraries, this week’s MD-08 Local Hero is the dazzling Sarah Fradkin, head of adult services at the Rockville Memorial Library. Sarah shared the exciting details of the library’s upcoming Summer Reading program. Let’s all sign up”

Jamie Raskin has served as a member of Congress since replacing Chris Van Hollen in 2017 and previously held office in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature. He was born in Washington D.C., resides in Takoma Park, and holds degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.
