Rep. Jamie Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 8 and 9, 2026, highlighting legislative efforts by House Democrats and paying tribute to fellow Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer.
On January 8, Raskin praised his colleague, stating: “.@RepStenyHoyer is a 24-7 fighter for the Free State, our federal workers and strong democracy for all. Steny makes sure Maryland always punches above its weight and he leaves an awesome legacy for our delegation.” This message was posted at 13:12 UTC.
Later that day at 14:41 UTC, Raskin addressed ongoing legislative action in the House of Representatives regarding health care tax credits under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He wrote: “House Democrats are forcing a vote to extend ACA tax credits over total opposition from Trump and Johnson. We can’t stop and won’t stop fighting to protect the health care of all the American people.”
On January 9 at midnight UTC, Raskin continued this theme with another post emphasizing his support for extending ACA tax credits: “House Democrats fought for a vote to extend ACA tax credits because the health of the American people is on the line. I voted hell yes. My full statement: https://t.co/EGMB8lI7UH”
