Jamie Raskin highlights Montgomery County’s clean energy efforts and voices concern over West Bank violence

Rep. Jamie Raskin, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 8th district since 2017, has recently highlighted local achievements and international concerns in a series of posts on his Twitter account.

On April 30, 2026, Raskin praised Montgomery County’s progress in sustainable transit infrastructure, stating: “Congrats to Montgomery County for building the nation’s largest transit depot electrical grid! Thank you for leading the way in pioneering cleaner energy solutions for transit in our community.” The same day, he drew attention to violence in the West Bank by posting: “The violent lawlessness Netanyahu’s government is fomenting in the West Bank has lethal consequences for innocent people. This month, 14-year-old Aws al-Naasan and 32-year-old Jihad Abu Naim were killed in an attack on a school in the village of al-Mughayyir. We owe it to them to”.

Continuing his focus on local initiatives, Raskin wrote on May 1, 2026: “This week’s MD-08 Local Hero is the talented Director of MoCo’s Department of Transportation, Christopher Conklin. Yesterday, MoCo unveiled the nation’s largest transit depot electrical grid. Chris joined us to share what this impressive green project means for transit in our”.

Jamie Raskin succeeded Chris Van Hollen as Maryland’s representative for the 8th district after winning election to Congress in 2017. He previously served as a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 2007 through 2016. Born in Washington, D.C., Raskin graduated from Harvard University with a BA and later earned his JD from Harvard Law School. He currently resides in Takoma Park at age sixty.
